I read this writeup on how to mount a Nissan Quest alternator in place of the lower output KA/SR units. Is there any love for us CA guys when comes to a higher output Alts from anouther Nissans or any vehicle for that matter? A higher output Alternator has it's obvious advantages when running electric fans and the like.

I would get a CA alternator off ebay and take it to an alternator shop and tell them "I'd like the works please".

As mbmbmb23 said, I would think that an alternator/generator/electric motor repair shop could perform the work needed to increase the amperage output of the alt. Other than that, it would have to be something custom. Most alt. mount in somewhat the same manner, so just finding one that was a close enough fit would be the hard part. You'd have to build a custom upper bracket most likely, but nothing a fab shop couldn't do in short order.

When you up the amps on an Alternator you significantly shorten the life span of it. I guess i'll have to search around and see if someone makes a custom mounting bracket or something.
