On my 98 Q45 I need to replace the blown speaker amps from the rear deck speakers. I was able to access them by removing the back trunk panel when I unplugged the connectors. My question is, can I simply remove the rear amps without having to remove the back seat, the deck and the speakers too? It looks like they are attached to the rear with four screws after removing a plastic cover.

It may be a little tricky working upsidedown, but if I can remove the amps without having to remove the other parts, that would be great. I think I can get enough access if I literally crawl into the trunk and work carefully so I don't drop anything.

If anyone knows whether this can be done please chime in.

Thanks!!

I thought they were just bolted to the bottom of the parcel shelf? If so should be no problem.

Thanks for the response, but the rear speakers are actually bolted to the rear deck from the top down, meaning you would have to remove the rear seats and deck cover to expose the speaker bolts and pop the speakers up and out. They don't just unbolt and drop down into the trunk.

My question is whether I can simply remove the rear speaker amps without removing the entire speaker. I am going to try this wknd and will post any hurdles and/or success I encounter.

I think theres only one speaker amp and its bolted to the bottom of the shelf. So yes you will be able to take it out but you will have no sound whatsoever.

This is somewhat related, but do any of you know how to remove the cover on the rear deck for a 6th gen maxima to remove the factory 6x9 speakers? I've got some new ones I want to put in but don't see how the covers come off. Thanks for any help...

I think you have to take out the whole cover, forget if that means that you have to take the back seat out too.

That's what I'm thinking has to be done too, but I don't see where to start. I removed the rear panel that holds the side ends of the rear seat (that part that stays up when you fold the rear seats down) but I can't see how to remove the whole panel. Underneath the deck, all I see is plastic pins that hold part of it down, but when you pop those out, something is still holding the cover in place, and I can't find it. Any more info would be great, I've got some kappa's i want to put in and really don't want to pay for installation, I'll save that $ for my sub/amp later. Thanks converted...
