while your motor is still in your car w/out jacking the motor up? Those lower two right hand bolts look to be a pain, heck it wasnt fun taking them off my motor sitting in my garage.

What would you say is the best angle to attack this? Above or underneath (if its reachable by taking off the downpipe/o2 housing/turbo).

With removal, comes replacing. At the moment I have a totally dead car, so I'll have to rush this a tad and cannot wait for a new T25 gasket to come in. At the moment I have my full assembly (exhaust manifold, t25, extension) all together off my spare motor (all gaskets on it are good to go). Is it possible to put this assembly on my motor with it all together like that, again, with it still in the car?

Hopefully one of the seasoned CA18DET vets will know some tricks of the trade.

There are detailed instructions somewhere with motor still in car...not sure if it is easily done without jacking the car up.

Searched already.

Putting the car on a lift is nothing, that can be done with ease, and will be done anyway, as were probably going to do clutch when we do the turbo/manifold swap. I'm more worried if this can be done w/the motor inside the car still. If the motor needs to be jacked up, that can be done (not with ease though), but if this can be done w/out jacking up the motor itself, that would be spectacular.

Still no answers huh?

No, you don't need to jack the motor up. But plan on bleeding some knuckles, cussing a lot, and having to come in from the top AND bottom.

my italian friend..

i dod this about 8 times this year dealing with a leaky gasket and warped head flange....

its no bigie, but be prepared to twist your hands in ways never doen before - while trying to torque or loosen some of the most stuborn nuts ever..

allot of cussing, a few beers and a hottie to wipe your brow everynow and thena dn you should eb good to go...

a lil advice..

mount the manifold > turbo > 02 pipe and oil & water lines together, then mount it on the engine.. i found that was easier... attach the oil & water lines to teh engine before you tighten up everything..

good luck
