Anybody know of a site that shows the specifics of putting a VVT head on the US DE motor? ThanksM

Yes.. you can do it.. However, you will need to supply the VVL solenoids with oil feed/pressure. This can be done externally by drilling/tapping the solenoids and putting AN fittings. Then, run a hose from the oil pressure sending unit with a "T" to the solenoids. You can even use a regular ECU with an AFC and window switches to turn on/off the VVL solenoids.Travis

While it can be done and doesn't require much work, it'd probalby be easier/cheaper just to get the whole SR20VE motor. I'm not sure I've seen a VVL head for sale by itself in the last year or two here in the US...

Last I checked the VVL head was different than the DE. Exhaust ports are different.

They're not different enough to make a huge difference. If you swap the head, you'll want (possible need?) to use the VE intake manifold, but you can use any FWD SR20 exhaust manifold. They'll bolt up.. might not be ideal, but they'll work and bolt up.

I'm using a Gen 3 HS Header on my SR20VE and it makes pretty decent power. I'd gain power by upgrading my header to something specific for the VE, but it still makes good power as is.

I thought that the oil passages in the head were a little different then that of a DE head. So you may need to do a little machine work to get the oil passages to line up properly. Also since you mentioned the solenoids need oil pressure to opperate, would that work with a DE oil pump? I mean do they need a certain amount of oil pressure to work? I know some DE(T) people are upgrading to a VE oil pump because it puts out more oil press.
