Yes you can, ive seen it done before. One of the guys from HIN had his coupe with a double DIN on the bottom and still kept the stock radio.

A/V forum.

I would like this, but I would have no use for the stock radio and would want something else there

well it would have to be custom fabbed in there... i grabbed the left, right, and rear brackets used in the Bose w/ Navi model, and used those to install the silver glove box w/ ask tray and opening for the 6 disc changer that comes with the navi models..

from there, I custom cut an opening into the front of that, and installed a single din unit with dvd player and monitor in there... i then secured it around the chasis using the rear mounting stud on the back of the stereo...

sounds complicated, but it wasn't really...

in any case, you'll need to custom fab something there depending on exactly what you wanted to do (single din, doube din, etc)

here's what mine looks like...

I bought it as a seperate piece... a lot of these prices have gone up a bit over the last year... when I bought it, it was only $38 brand new... now, the same part goes for $55 from the online dealer at :

http://www.everythingnissan.com

just click on Altima coupe parts--> console--> center console-->storage box--> w/leather seats w/ navigation

I'm custom making my own box out of acrylic, I'm more than halfway done. I just need to buy the doubledin unit, place it inside, drill the holes and paint the acrylyc .... lol, just need $300 to buy the HU and finish up!
