can you pull the pistons from the bottom?

I'd like to replace just my pistons with stronger ones, so i can hold more boost. Just wondering if it is possible to pull the crank/rods/pistons from the bottom and replace them from the bottom. If possible, it'd be much easier then removing the head. Thanks.

no you cant, even if you were to get them out the bottom (which i dont think is quite possible) reinstalling properly with rings would be a no go.

yes you can remove the rods and pistons, but the crank isnt going anywhere and like devious pointed out, how would you get the rings back in?

there is a tool you use when installing pistons into their cylinders. looks like a tube with a clamp on it. the piston goes into the tube and the clamp tightens down over the rings. then you tap the pistons into their cylinders and the rings stay compressed until the piston is all the way in.

You remove the pistons out the bottom, and replace them from the top. So yes you could pull them from the bottom, but you would have to have the head off to properly put them back in.

on a geometric cylinder, the process you just described would work on either side. how does the bottom of an engine's cylinder differ then the top? thanks a lot, by the way.

there isnt any room to do it from the bottom, to put it simply. the crank is in the way for one and the bottom each cylinder is not flat. theres plenty of casting in the way.

Yep, the casting at the bottom of the cylinders will make it impossible.
