I'm just curious as if I can tear out the head while the motor is still in the engine bay. I'm selling the head and dont have quick access to a cherry picker. The motor is allready stripped of all parts. So it doesn't seem too difficult. But what do you guys think? Anyone on here done this before?

if your just swapping heads then leave it in the car and cover the block till you put a head back on. but.. if you need to do anything to the bottom end then I would recomend yanking the motor out. just my 2 cents

The block is trash. So I'm wanting to pull the head out and sell it. Then pull the block out by itself later on. I wont be doing any work at all on the motor thats in there. So, can I get by doing it like that? Or would it be just a waste of time?

well if you dont have a replacment motor yet than Id say leave the sob in there. sell the head. if the blocks destroyed then deal with it when you get a new one. let it sit for now...

It can be a pain, but it's doable. If you have the manifolds pulled off, it makes it a million times easier

of course, you just want to make sure you tie off your timing chain after pulling the head so it stays on the right link on the lower crank sprocket, just makes it easier when you are re-assembling

it takes me about 4 hours to take a head off the sr while it's in the bay. thats draining the fluids, and taking off manifolds and taking my time. it's not that bad. it can be a bit annoying but after doign it a few times i don't mind it as much

I'm not re-assembling this motor at all. The head is for sale and the block is trash. Already ripped out all the internals in the head. (Anyone need anything?) Just need to take off the exhaust manifold now and pull the head. I don't have my garage anymore or I would have been done by now.
