Hi guys,

I just bought a new 2008 G35 with the nav package so I could get the 9 gig hardrive to upload all of my mp3s to it and listen to them in my car. The sales guy said it should be no problem either via ipod or flash disk.

I've got the car home and the only way it will let me upload songs to it is via CD which is a big problem for me as I don't have many CDs anymore... Almost everything is just on my computer etc.

Is just user error or was I told wrong and the only way you can get music on the hardrive is through CDs?

Thanks!

I am not sure, however if you wait until morning when a lot of the guys are more active, I bet you'll have an answer... Wish I could help you, but that's not an option in the 2004 model.

yeah my old car was a 2004 G35 and I just traded it back in for a new 2008 G35....

Huge selling point for me was the 9 gig hardrive for my mp3s but now I Can't seem to get them on there other than with a CD which can hold maybe 15 songs or so

The only way to get songs on there via CD is with an actual album. You can't transfer burned CDs with MP3s, I'm not too positive about burned CDs in the regular audio format...that's something worth trying. A better way to go about this is to buy a huge compact flash card, load it up and stick it into the flash drive.

yeah that does seem like the easiest thing to do but I just feel a bit ripped off because the only reason I upgraded to the Nav was so I could get the Hardrive to hold all my mp3s. Two different sales guys acted like you could easily u/l from the ipod or from a flash card :/

You can play the iPod via the AUX jacks, but you can't upload from it. That's not just the car, but also the security put on the iPod...you can't transfer songs on iPods from computer to computer, unless you have hacker software.

Sorry that you feel ripped off though. But that's just how the system works. Stupid, yes I agree along with many others, but what are you gonna do, right?

Look at it from this perspective. You have to back up all of your music into the regular audio format, you get tons of CDs, and now your CD library at home looks very substantial. Yeah? Yeah? Takers? Probably not, I tried.
