Can you interchange Cam Caps with different heads? HELP

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

Generally, absolutely not. Any bearing cap/half that has been line bored with its counterpart should only be used at that location.

That said, if you are in a situation where you must use another cap (say you lost one), then you can get away with it provided you find another that seems to fit perfectly.

With nissan engines, you can get away with this, but it should not be a common practice. I wouldn't recommend doing it with anything but the cam bearing caps.

You should remove valves, valvesprings, retainers and buckets, then install camshaft with all of the caps that you plan to use. Torque to spec and make sure cam spins freely.
