This is located passenger side, right by the rear bumper. It was covered by a metal guard. That guard was rusted Thru on my 2010 rogue. I removed it to install a hitch. I’m curious what this is and how important the guard is. I’ve searched the schematics but can’t find it. Mostly cause I don’t even know what system it supports.

Do the rubber hoses go to the fuel filler neck or fuel tank? It may be the evap canister.

That is the evap canister. My daughter's cover rusted off as well. I bought a new one but haven't put it on yet.
