So, today I went to Super Autobacs with Grant (yokota180sx) and his friend Dave to get our cars dynoed. Grant went first with his Cedric, then me with the Laurel, then Dave with his R32 GT-R. I'll let Grant tell you what he got, but I want to see how good your "bench dynos" are.

My engine mods.

RB20DET all stock internals and fuel system.R32 GTS-t turbine Night-Pager O2 open waste gate3" split front pipe3.25" cat backHKS EVC (first model) set at about .85 bar.

That's it as are as performance mods go.

So, can you guess what I got? I only did one pass as that was all I could afford at the time.

If you are close, I'll paypal you $1. If you get within 5 ps, you'll get $2. If you can get within 2 ps, it's $5.

Grant, and Mike (themadscientist) are not allowed to guess as they both already know.

Good luck.

Neal

And a few pics.

Nope, you were off by about 30ps.

By the way, check your e-mail. I am sending you the dyno sheet. Look at my torque.

I am not sure we are that close man

pulls strong. what are the two different power curves? Is the red maybe wheel HP and the green theoretical flywheel HP?

the red was them testing the dyno to make sure it was working. just a run up, that's all. The green as the actual wheel power, and the top blue is the torque. The others, not sure, haven't asked the wife to translate.

Well, most likely, no one will get close, so here you go.

And just in case some of you may think I didn't actually dyno it, check this thread.

zerothread/262863

I don't know what kind of dyno it is, so I can't help ya.

Alright, I give. I don't know how to convert from PS to either KW or HP. *sigh*

Either way, Neal your graph looks good and your lines are rather smooth, congrats!

According to Eikon, I got 257 wheel horse power.

I was so happy when I saw it. I was only shooting for about 220-230, and when I saw the graph, I darn near wet myself.

Not to bust chops, but no way an RB20 with a stock turbine and a few bolt ons makes that kinda power. I'm not saying it didn't dyno at that, but the dynos here on Oki are known to be WAY off. Power check specific dynos like that are known for dialing up the humidity/temp correction to give you the numbers they think you want to here.

Never mind, I just looked at the dyno chart. The green is your estimated atf PS. The red is RWPS. Blue is torque and that black line that dips down at the bottom is the correction factor. According to that chart, you made 235rwhp. Still kind of on the high side I think, but a lot more believable.

Yeah, I know. I saw the thread on zeroyon yesterday, and the more that I thought about it, the more I started to question it. So yeah, I am still happy because I got within the target range that I was hopping, and I know my guestimations were correct, and...TMS actually nailed it perfect.

I had actually started to question it the more I started looking at the graph, like the fact that the red line and the green line drop off at the same point in the RPM range. (If the red line was the test run, it would have dropped off a lot sooner as they didn't run all the way up the range.)

Either way, I am still very happy with where I am on the Laurel. 235 rwhp is a pretty respectible number for a guy on a major budget, with all used parts on his car...lol

Actually, right now I am in need of some coilovers for the front. I have one that is leaking a bit, and another one that is creaking and moaning when I turn.

Those things are probably, at least 3 years old, and who knows what the previous owner did with the car.

I fully bolted on my RB20, then switched everything down to the exaust manifold over when I did the swap, so I then had a fully bolted on RB25. Then, put a turbine kit on and sell all your old bolt on crap

****, I didn't even notice. Cut me some slack, I am stuck inside with a typhoon rockin outside. Check the RB sale thread, that turbo and manifold is for sale. Help me fund the parts for the FJ project!
