Just wondering if it's possible. I lost one of my Wheels/Tire in a car accident and looking to replace it. Problem is, those wheels are not being made anymore and I can't find them. Mines are 20" (5x114.3) (8.5 width) +40 offset, found the same exact wheel except it's +30 offset will I be able to use them?

alright I guess my question is; can you run a +40 offset and a +30 offset on front or no? will it cause any trouble?

you can, but i dont think it would be a good idea, plus that one wheel would stick out more. Only thing I can think is to buy 3 10mm hubcentric spacers to match it

The lower the offset a wheel has the further out it sits, so a 30mm will stick out 10mm more then a 40mm offset. The higher the offset a wheel the more tucked in it will be

The +30 would stick out more than the +40. A wheel with 0 offset has its mounting surface right in the middle of the wheel. A wheel with +5 offset has its mounting surface 5mm out from the center of the wheel, meaning that the wheel sticks out 5mm LESS than a wheel with 0 offset.

So, from the wheel hub, your current wheels with +40 offset stick out 4.25 inches, minus 40mm (4.25 - 1.6 = 2.65 inches). If you throw a +30 on there, they will stick out 4.25 inches, minus 30mm (4.25 - 1.2 = 3.05 inches).

doesn't sound like that big of a diff to me..I might be wrong ofc. so in your opinion should I just go with that? +40 and a +30, I can't find that wheel anywhere and I really like them. I'm even going to powdercoat the new wheel cuz it's chrome and mines are black..

Go with the +30 and buy 3 +10mm spacers for the other three wheels. That way they sit even with one another.

Buy 2 +30 rims and put them in the back. Put the +40 rims on the front. Bonus: Now you have an extra +40 to use as a spare.

There's only one 20x8.5 available..yea I'm s*** out of luck pretty much..

I'm def going with IBCoupe's idea, seems like a good one. Thanks everyone for your replies. :dblthumb:

Edit: Oh one more Q, where can I buy good spacers online? and do I need like a specific kind?

Hubcentric spacers are the best way to go. But if your wheels came with hubcentric rings, you probably wont be able to use both. I would toss the rings and just use the spacers.

If money is tight, you can look into universal spacers. I've used univerals for over 6 months with no issues. I don't drive very aggressively though

Both *should* work together. Hubcentric rings lower the rim's effective bore diameter to match that of the factory hub. Hubcentric spacers generally maintain the factory hub diameter (per the lip) - not to a specific wheel. I'm sure there are rare exceptions, but every hub centric wheel spacer I've seen matches the oem hub.

Offsets have anything to do with tire size? I'm using 3 245/35ZR20 91W for my +40 offset wheels. will the +30 need a different tire?

^^ No it will not affect the tire that you use. The offset simply determines how far the mounting bracket is from the center of the wheel.

I can't recall the required Bore size for the hub rings. I think it was 60.1 but I'm not 100% on that.

Sweet, thanks. Do you happen to know anyone that is sitting on 20"s with +30 offset? I wanna see how it looks.

Try searching on google images or check the sideshot thread in the suspension forum to see some A/Cs on 20s.

The offset only relates to the horizontal positioning of the wheel, and not the diameter. If you want the wheel to sit flush with the fender, you'll need to change the offsets as you change the width of the wheel. A 8.5" wheel with 30 offset, will look different from an 8" wheel with 30 offset.

I have a 19x8 wheel with 32mm offset and the top of the wheel is perhaps 6-8mm inside of the wheel well. Of course the bottom part is farther out, partly due to the fender shape and my slight camber. Here's a higher res pic of my sig photo: http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/7338/img0592of.jpg

If you increased the width to 8.5" you would need to change the offset to keep the outer position of the wheel in the same spot.
