Yep, sounds like you overheated the trans and cooked some clutches and solenoids.

Well I am on the road again. I rented a uhaul in Salt Lake and put the van in a storage unit for a month. The van is back to normal as soon as I took the weight out of it.

I was watching my temp like a hawk, but like all road cars it only shows me engine temp. OD even works again, but I imagine it doesn't have much left. I'm probably going to fly back and get it sometime.

I had that happen on a Mazda MPV with just 50,000 miles on a 100F humid day, loaded with cargo on a road trip. JATCO gearboxes are known for overheating easily. Towed it to St Louis and it was fine the next day.

In true Top Gear spirit, I feel like you should add a "fix" to the transmission. Some friends and I used to kick around the idea of using JB Weld to add strips of metal to the transmission case and pan to act as cooling fins to keep temps down.

You should give it a shot!

JB Weld isn't the greatest conductor.

I was thinking today of what I would have done... maybe re-route the windshield washer hose to dump on the radiator, and hit it whenever I was going up hill.

That is an awesome idea lol. I don't think I will have a problem driving it back empty. I was planning on selling it, but we may keep it for spite. See, we were supposed to stay with Pam's sister in law for the night, but she didn't want my van in her driveway. So much for family taking care of each other. So f*** em. I may keep it forever. :chuckle:

We're in Oregon, about 4 hours from home. We can't move I until tomorrow anyways, so we called it an early night here. Largely because I found a hotels.com discount and got a room for $54.

if you do decide to keep it, you could always install a mattress and convert it into the "shaggin' wagon". :naughty:

I was thinking a flat screen and a Wii on the driver side and a futon on the other side facing it.

Well we made it. Whoever invented wind can kiss my a** lol. The Columbia gorge was windy but I took my time and went the truck speed limit, even though I didn't have too. I pulled 15 mpg out of it for most of the trip. It was a 2014 GMC cube van with only 31k miles on it. But it did GM out on me once. I'll get into that later.

And this isn't over... I still need to go get the van. :)
