OK I was on cardomain.com and I was checking out a Nissan 240sx, which had this really dumb looking front bumper. Nothing wrong with voicing your opinion but another member says Nissan 240sx's are becoming the new Honda Civics! No way! Is anybody as annoyed at this as I am? I'm not mad because who is he...he didn't even have a ride to show off...but I did get annoyed. Just because 1 guy's 240sx looks bad...doesn't mean all of ours do too.

What he said:

Posted by KustomK5 05/30/2006, 12:46amdont meen to be a d!ck but that car was butt *** ugly. Had potential i guess. Also, when u blew ur single cam u just swapped in another single cam that was just painted some obnoxious colors?Boy... the 240 really is the new honda civic!

Now he had a point because the guy's 240sx was a disgrace but come on! How can you compare a Civic to a 240sx!?

I believe where he was going with that is this. He isnt saying that a 240sx is rice, but that the Civic enjoyed a great deal of popularity. Now, the "in" vehicle is RWD and 240sx fits the bill so well, especially since drifting became popular.Rejoice in the popularity as it will bring the aftermarket looking for our dollars. That means lower prices and better variety.

I'm glad my AE86 isnt as popular, lol.

Hmm I guess your right. But everyone with a 240sx...are they all going to use it for drifting? Nothing else? Cuz that's all i'm seeing...I mean nothing wrong with that...but I have a vert...no way I can drift in it without a roll cage. I'd rather have it just being straight fast and looking good.

Topless, a word of advice:

1) Who cares man? lol. It's your car, and you bought it, and most importantly YOU love it. I'd be damned if I left another person's OPINION bother me - most importantly, my ride.

2) I'm glad your are active in this forum. It's good to see the post orders change every once in a while. However, a topic like this is a null issue. Everyone on this board is 240 lover...so, you are kinda like blowing in the wind when it comes to getting a good opinion back from others. I mean, no one on this board, or any nissan board for that matter, is going to say anything bad about our love cars.

3) Breathe. Slowly.

i must agree...

240's are becoming very popular very quickly. a lot of the local car guys are talking about trying to find/buy a 240. it looks like it might become the next honda with respect to it being the popular/cool thing to have. and you better believe that they're going to start ricing them out. the people who jump on pop-culture vehicles only care about making it loud and making it look "cool".

i just hope we don't sell them our cars. i know they're not getting my vert and i'm picking up a coupe just so a ricer doesn't get it. (really, that's not the only reason but it sounds good in this post) fortunately in my area 240's are hard to find. if they start showing up i guess i'll just have to flex my automotive muscle and one up them with a silvia conversion with rhd.

If "the 240sx is the new Honda Civic" means...

1.) It will have a very high demand and keep rediculously high resale values. 2.) It will gain a ton of attention from the aftermarket companies and in turn will see the availability of better quality, lower priced aftermarket parts. 3.) simply adding type R stickers will add 10+ hp...

then...

I'm all for it!

there is only a limited supply of 240's and they hit the junkyards everyday so they can only be a fad until they are all gone... I'm not sure if that makes since but I'm going with that

ok ok I know I been gone a while but I have to agree. The new added popularity will serverly drop the price of goods. And it wlill also add to the market by way of actual euro tail lights actually being made for the coupe/vert. Ebay will be even more flodded with parts. Not to mention even possible aftermarket, oem, jdm parts being manufactured. See there is a silver lining although the ricers will come. There will be people like me to do de-ricing projects. I look at it as a much needed challenge. BTW I know I haven't been on here lately thats b/c the past 4 weeks I been in florida and my boss let me take one of his cars (the M45)

wow. hearing this really pisses me off. i kinda see it in the same way, but CIVICS are mostly ALL the same. any ricer's parent, (and yes, i am one...so it's ok to bagg on them) will buy them a cheap automatic civic to save gas. then, they would go buy cheap stuff for it like an exhaust tip or a steering wheel cover from kragan and call it bangin.

my idea of 240's is style, look, skill, and smoke. We ALL portray our cars in a different way. it shows our personality, and it shows our taste in life through our cars.

then again, i know some people who really race out their hondas, so that's a different thing. Other civics who just put FREE stickers on it, thinking it will make them drive faster are stupid.

I love my nissan. it fits me perfectly. i truely believe it was the best car designed...especially for a girl like me. rugged, simple, and outright.

then again, there is a thing with 240 people... some think they're car is bangin, but it STOCK!!!!! i'm not trying to offend anyone, but instead, i am telling my feelings. some people get into this drifting motorsport thinking they can beat everyone out. ITS NOT LIKE THAT. drifting is for yourself. it's for fun. it's a sport. and it's a biiig part of MY life.

I don't think everyone is knocking the civic (well at least I'm not). On the other hand my concern is what pop culture will do for the 240 (tokyo drift for example) I would be so very happy if the price of things dropped due to a renewed intrest in the 240. But I am definately glad to see the 240 in the limelight for a minute where it should have been a long time ago sharing the spotlight with the civic. Both cars, strickly from a performance side, have both positive and negative features about them. My room mate is an accord coupe woner and we both enjoy racing each others cars from time to time. And we always talk about new things we see both on the market and the people who rice out our beloved cars.

At least the verts are harder to find!

I had someone at work today tell me that my car is really nice and it's the first one they ever saw. That's such a good feeling to hear someone say that. Especially about my 14 year old car!

240sx's are ill cars. End of story. Civics are ill cars cars. End of story.

I owned/own both a civic and a 240.

The EG was the best car I ever owned - and I am on the lookout for another one too. Great mileage, great versatility/practicality, tons of parts, retains value. What more could someone want? I can drop 5g's on a civic hatch that will run AT LEAST low 13's all day and STILL have enough gas to come home. Remember that? you know...that "other" sport called drag racing....the one where you trained for with stoplight engagments.

The 240sx is a great car too, especially my sr powered vert! I love it!

But really, you can't put these two rides and compare them b/c the traits are so different. I mean, I'm 27 and still (admittedly) trying to get the "hang" of rwd. That **** is not for timid if you don't know what you are doing. Seriously.

aiite..I'm done.

The fad stuff is just a blessing in disguise just as long as you are a hardcore 240sx driver. As you guys said there will be more parts but there are some other intersting stuf to point out. One is that people will under estimate the 240sx because of ricers. If you take care of your 240 or put the good mods on it you will gain some serious respect for not being 240sx ricer. Also when the fad dies down and years later the 240sx will be classic because the 240sx is not tlike the civic, its alot more like a modern Trueno 86'. They are very similar, both of them have flip up headlights, RWD, light weight, enough hp to drift, aren't very common ( I know only one other s13 240sx in Atlantic City) and finaly they are very affordable and upgradeable.

I definetly agree with you. When first got my 240sx I realy didn't know anything about it exept that my freind's eyes lit up when I asked him if it was RWD. He taught me to drift by the way. I never thought that the stock 240sx could take anyone, it just felt like it could take on the world and them some. It isn't stock now, it never stops suprising me. I started drifting with and automatic, but in the snow. Your right, I don't care about beating anyone, I just love drifting its a way of living. Although I can't lie I did enjoy smoking a bunch of dudes where I live especialy my ex's ex, he swore his probe was the **** and **** it was. Its not easy to drift around here, to much traffic and cops everywere, even at 3 am.

well everyone you can all thank fast and furious :tokyo drift. because of this movie every honda boy and their mothers will be trying to buy a 240sx. i knwo it wasnt in the movie but the s15 was and it is the last of the S series body, so more then likly we will be seeing a whole ****load of youungsters trying to "drift" and probably for those who dont jump the bandwagon i've already heard of a few guys trying to drift their rsxs and civic hatches. once again THANKS fast furious

Yep...the movie will have after effects just like the previous 2. Tokyo Drift was a good movie...better than the first two IMO. But...Ricers!!! They are everywhere...even as we speak...

thats already been going on for 2 years. that movie wasnt popular, and didnt even have many s chassis in it.

hopefully the ricers will go by vw's, and try converting evo's to rwd, or buy muscle cars.

If you look at what each car accels at then there should be nuttin but luv baby. I am currently in the process of doing a B18C swap into my 92 Civic Hatch. At a whopping 2100 pounds stock and 185 Hp without the turbo kit going in... it will be fun to drive. On the other hand, when I get the rest of the parts to do my SR swap.... well there is nothing like sliding sideways at 60 TOPLESS baby.. not a hater on this end.. to each their own... You should see my daily driver .. 1983 Ford F150 w/200K with rust like a teenager with acne... I see alot of this stuff on the Honda sites and yes the vast majority of the owners of those cars are younger kids... many of them just like to go fast.. and cheap (sounds like most of us) they just haven't experienced the finer things in life... like us 240 owners.. Just share the luv,

haha dont know if you are kidding but you should see the prices on club4ag. people are asking rediculous amounts of money for that car. By the way I love your hachi and all hachi's but i think people are using the initial d/ drift tax too much.

As for the civic thing, The civic was not even considered a poser car at one point in time. I would hate to see the 240 go that route. some people lack taste and do horrific things to cars in the name of style.
