First off I'm not a retard, I work 60+ hrs a wk so I value every minute of spare time. I'm replacing my brakes on my 97 240, and I just want to make sure I grab all the tools I need before I start (to avoid delays). Do I need any tools to remove the rear rotors,(impact screwdriver ect.) or do they just pop off(or with a hammer if rusted to hub) after I remove the caliper and bracket? I found a pic that looks like it just pops off, clearing the nut that's attatched to the axle. It is a dumb question but I know that anyone who's done their rear brakes will be able to answer.

Thanks

nope, just wrenches to get the caliper off and the ebrake line might be the trickiest part. i'd really suggest looking at Chilton's for this... anyways, don't forget that when you're seating the piston, it has to be turned in clockwise i believe (NOT pushed in) for the rears only. i used needle-nose pliers to do this, but it's a slippery lol, you'll see.

[edit: by wrenches i'm assuming you have a tool set... socket wrench and sockets]

and yea, after you take off the bolts, it should just pop right off unless rusted on... i dont think i had a problem w/ mine (but it's florida car). don't forget a nice coat of anti-seize b4 putting em back on.

Yes you're right you do screw the pistons in clockwise. I have the '97 factory reapair manual aswell but the pic of the exploded rear brake parts diagram doesn't include the rotor, and the chapter makes NO reference regarding how to get it off. Yes I do have tools but I keep almost all of them at work( I'm a service writer and 4th year apprentice @Honda), and we're not open Sunday(my only day off) so I can't go grab tools. That's why I asked the STUPID question, I'm simply way too busy at work to even pull the car onto a hoist, and check for myself. I asked our 2nd year apprentice to do it when he has time but no luck, and I gotta do em tomorrow.

Thanks for your input
