Can/What can be used to plug the Header EGR port?

Just wondering what would be the proper way to go about blocking off the egr port on the header. Seeing as though the stock fitting has a small flare on the end, what can I use to block it off without having to worry about it coming/blowing out. I already purchased an EGR blockoff plate for the intake side from Rigid Racing, if somebody could give me some advice on this it would be very appreciated. Thanks

^ yep.. that's what I did with the AIV at least.. just take the pipe out, cut it down to like 2", put a nickel in the hole on the header, and screw the pipe back on.. it fits nice.

I tried every place imaginable, and could not find a metric plug that size in stainless. So, as I could not get the EGR bung out of my cast manifold, I used the AIV bung in the EGR. I simply left 3 inches of pipe on, and put a tight kink in it. No leaks yet. I still needed to block off my AIV, so after searching for like 4 hours, my drunk brother finally told me that on an s13 the o2 sensor is mounted in an adapter that has the same outer threads as the EGR and AIV. I took out the adapter, and voila! I simply had to put 5 nickels behind it, as the threads are only 10mm deep, compared with the hole at maybe 16mm. Also, please use PB Blaster or comparable product for 3 days before on all manifold fittings and bolts. You will smile when taking them off. I used anti-seize on all of my header studs and EGR/AIV fittings as well as o2, just do not get any on the ceramic part of the sensor.

+1 for an alcoholic brother that hates rice cars but knows everything about them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anybody know the exact metric size? Just curious because I need to locate one because I do not know how to weld.

You can order a bung plug right from Nissan that plugs the hole in the downpipe where the AIV used to go, and ive been told that the EGR hole is the same size and that the same plug will fit. I would check that out because the plug is by far the best way to plug it, I dont recall the part number but I found it on here.

I called my local Nissan dealer, no dice on a plug. He cannot sell anything that helps you get by emissions. If you install a header, it will have the right O2 sensor threads. You simply take out the O2 adapter and put some nickels behind it for the AIV. Use the AIV bung and pipe for the EGR, as it gets hotter. Put a kink in the pipe, it will not leak. If I can find a stainless plug, I will buy two and trade them. Yes the AIV and the EGR have the same threads.

None for me!You do not have to plug the egr on the intake. Simply cut the metal line that goes to it about 3 inches away from the header, and bend it over and put a tight kink in it. Worked for me.

The plug in my header kept getting loose until finally I couldn't tighten it in time and the plug fell out 20 feet from the shop so i had to just cut the old pipe with the flared nut, hammer it flat and weld it...it holds better anyways.

I was looking into blocking off my EGR, although what are the benefits? I recently purchased my 96 240sx and exploring the vast options. Sorry i'm new! I'd like to know the pros and cons to this mod.

If you want something to block off the intake side of the EGR line you can order a steel EGR blockoff plate from Rigid Racing. I think they are about $16 shipped.
