can we use generic weatherstripping?

Im iffy on even paying the $140/door at the dealer for the window trim since it will probably just rust again.

Just so I know what to look out for, what is rusting exactly? Was the rust caused by faulty weatherstripping?

all the 97-00 R50's have window trim (overlays that squeegee rubber that rolls along your windows) that rusts. Theres a metal piece inside, coated by rubber, and then it starts to bubble until the rubber coating cracks. every single R50 ive seen of this age does this, mines starting to get bad and Its $140x4 for replacements from dealer!! I have never seen a 01+ qx4 with corrosion on these, the material appears different

nissan...who coats a corrodable surface that is meant to keep water out..with rubber. stupid. Im pretty sure the last qx4's have no metal inside, because I never see any rusting on those and they dont look the same

i found a set of used ones last year, but gave the lead to slickroger since his were in worse shape than mine. Their starting to corrode again too so my only route is new ones
