This is my first time coming out of the M35 section, but I wanted to get the attention of the mods. I personally find the search function of this site behind the times. When I search, I generally have a specific format 90% of the time, In my section/titles only/result threads. To have to go through setting all of these EVERYTIME you make a search can get EXTREMELY annoying and tedious, especially when you don’t find what you want in the first three queries. Every other forum I frequent allows you to default your search criteria, so all I have to do is type in my query...so much faster and smoother. And then the rare occasions when I want different criteria, it is easier to change that, and then it defaults back to my query standards. Or if not that, at least allow a cookie to be set so your search criteria will be the same as your previous search.

Just my opinion which I hope will be looked into.

Ive never had a problem with the search function, although it seems a lot of the time Im the only one in the Altima forum who can use with good results. I think it might have to do with my memory, I remember certain phrases that certain people typed and I can pull right back into an old thread.

I guess Im on board with this.

This is what I do also or I remember the title and then narrow the search down.

It would help greatly if people stopped making stupid titles for technical threads.

For example: 300zx help

I usually just do a Google search with "NICO" in the search bar along with whatever I'm searching for. I usually avoid the NICO search function because of its lousiness. I agree.

I personally have no major issues with the search function. I usually can always find what i'm looking for just fine 95% of the time.

Replacing or editing the search function is a VERY involved process and considering that it's not broken - I don't forsee any changes to it in the near future. This site has an endless amount of features and add ons, so trying to make changes that play nice with every other part of this site is not an easy task. We're constantly working on the site and there is to-do list a mile long, so I assure you that we will try to improve it at some point - I cannot say when that will be though.

For me it's not about finding things, it's about the tediousness of constantly setting the parameters of the search ALL THE TIME...and I guess other things could be changed too I have never seen a search function break a site yet, especially a search function this simple. I've built numerous simple and complicated sites with and without forums. My personal experience is the main things that break these forums are the profiles, page layouts, and "misc toy" plug-ins. But that's just my experience anyway. At any rate, not my site and your prerogative I guess. I guess you have to do what you've prioritized.

For a guy who "builds websites", you'd think that tediousness would be something you would get used to...

I was not trying to be a d!ck with my reply - it's just not an easy thing to get access to, or make changes to. It is also very tedious for us to make changes to things built into the forums.

NICO is a completely different animal from any other forums and Greg(AZHitman) has spent an endless amount of his personal time and money to make it into what it is today. Yes, Greg is the owner and he does most of the work around here himself. I'm quite sure he know's what is best for the forums, or this site wouldn't be the largest and most visited Nissan forums on the web.

Like I said - i'm sure we will make changes to it eventually, but we're not going to push it to the top of the list just the make things easier for a few people.

I don't build websites anymore - I took a Service Manager job at a dealership over 2 months ago.

That aside though, I still do work on sites in my free time, which obviously my main priority is here. Quite honestly, I don't have access to make changes to those kind of things, because it requires editing the actual code. There's a big difference between building websites and manipulating code to do specific functions - which involves someone with programming experience. I could make an educated guess as to how to make the changes and probably get it done, but i'm not going to because there is no need.
