can water pumps do this?

I think my water pump is making an annoying squeaking noise... sounds like a squeaky wheel from an old wheelbarrow. Can water pumps do this? Or is it my pulley? Sounds more like it's coming from inside right where the water pump is. It's gettin' annoying, help.

Bad bearings = new pump, at least in my mind. Don't want that coolant to stop flowing...

yeah, but if the bearings have gone bad water will be leaking through the weep hole, otherwise you better look elsewhere for your problem

so start running the engine and look for water coming out of one of the two holes on the water pump, otherwise your water pump is probably tip top

uncle_louie thats a great point. plus if that belt was overtightened it would certainly contirbute to a bearing failure and not necessarily any leaking.
