Can transmission leak into transfer case oil? 2016 rogue AWD

Just wondering if Transmission can leak into the transfer case oil on a 2016 AWD rogue. Every time I do a fluid change on the transfer case I am told it was overfilled, not sure how this is possible though since it would pour out the fill hole once it reaches the top. I have personally changed the fluid before and noticed as soon as I pull the fill plug some fluid comes out.

There are seals in both the transmission and xfer case. So it would require both to be leaky, but yes, it is possible for transmission fluid to push out into the xfer case.

If transmission was leaking would I also see it where the transfer case mates with the transmission or is there a seal bonding the 2 together as well?

IIRC I don't think there's an o-ring, but it is a precision mating surface. So I'd imagine it would leak, but probably just a film.
