it should. someone probably disabled it, or the switch is faulty.

Somebody probably bypassed the neutral saftey switch. I had to do that when converting my car from auto to manual.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's one of those safety/convenience features. More convenience than saftey, it's much like the feature that keeps you from shifting straight from fifth to reverse. Don't ever try to shift from fifth to reverse and you'd never notice if the feature were missing.

Thats not what its for. Its so you can't start the car while its in gear without pressing in the clutch. Its a saftey feature that is great especially if somebody else drives you car and accidentally starts it while in gear. If its disabled I wouldn't be to worried just let people know before they drive your car.

I won't go in because reverse doesn't have a syncro. Sorry benemorius, yes it is a saftey feature.

grr

If you really don't get what I'm saying, let me know and I'll try to clarify. If you're just giving me a hard time for schites and giggles, tell me so I can chuckle and save my breath.

Oh...I think I can clarify. The feature I was speaking of was the one that locks you out of reverse immediately after you come out of fifth. The one that requires you to return the stick to center before going back over to reverse. It has nothing to do with synchros or the clutch or anything else. The only reason I mentioned this feature was simply to illustrate my view of the clutch switch that was in question. I figured it was something everyone could relate to, and therefore something that would help one understand my thoughts on the clutch switch. After talking with a couple of my friends though, I've determined that not very many people even know of this feature, for they too thought that they were locked out of reverse due to something involving synchros.

Sorry for the confusion. All I intended to say was that in my opinion this switch is more of a convenience than a life or car saving thing, and as such is not so important a fix.
