Can this emblem be removed off the steering wheel?

Hello again! I'm probably going to have more posts like this soon as I am making customizations to my vehicle.

I have been wondering about this for a while and didn't think it was answered last time. I have an emblem on my car steering wheel:

What I want to do is take a larger non-nissan emblem to put over this spot, but I just want to take off the existing logo. Can I remove this similar to the outside emblem removal on the back of the car by use of fishing line or something, or is this one fixed in there and screwed to the wheel? I just don't want to activate the airbag or something. It appears that while it is inset it does look like it might be tape mounted inside.

Can anyone confirm this? As far as filling it that's not a problem. The emblem going over it will cover it right up no problem.

Thanks in advance! This forum has been very helpful!

I popped mine off after one side became loose and put it back on with no problem. It snaps into place and is actually really easy to remove.

I assume you're looking to put something spiked into the center of the steering wheel. That would be really cool. It would be one of the first "Airbag proven to Kill" articles.

LOL!!!!

Haha no, but that would be interesting!

Truth be told I'm popping a metal emblem of one of these babies on there eventually:

I've been working on a custom Decepticon car for myself. I figure a car is one of the worst investments I can throw money in, so I might as well make it a fun ride.

I have one of the metal emblems on back of my car and some chrome lettering too and is coming along well. Here's one of the emblems:

I'll have a website up late next month on my progress too. It's been fun so far and can't wait for it to be complete.

So it's not that I hate Nissan (I love my Nissan!) but I want it to look like a legit Transformer... only without the ability to actually transform, haha! I got a few little extra fun things I'm working on that I will show later as I get further into the project when it's worth posting about since these are just minor things right now, but I am starting to get some double takers who like the car so far. I even got a vanity plate made too so it's nice!

So why isn't this your avatar?

Transformers ... 'cause they're more than meets the eye. Love it. I was past my prime when they hit the market but it's a great concept. The xformer movie should be interesting.

Don't mean to jack your thread (actually I do), where did you buy and were you happy with the dealer?

I bought in Burien Nissan, WA State. The sales people there are outstanding. No pressure type of people and was the best buying experience I ever had. if you live near that area I highly recommend them. My guy, David.. older fella and just a great person. He even calls once in a while to see how things are going with my car. You can tell he cares about his customers even after they drive off the lot.

yeah I'll have to change my avatar soon. I've been into transformers since when they first aired. I was 6 years old, but I'll always embrace my childhood. It's what keeps us adults sanity level. Mine anyways....

Thanks. I live in North Seattle. Burien is only a 20 minute drive down 99/509. I appreciate your feedback. I'll keep David in mind when I'm ready to buy.

Har, now it is MY turn to threadjack!

Being that you're in North Seattle, you might also consider Campbell Nelson right on 205th NE. They're one of the better customer service dealers, along with Burien (who did a great job getting the parts the first time around when my V was wrecked after only 3 months!) Also, C-N is a Costco affiliated dealer, so if you're a Costco member you can pass go and skip straight to their lowest price without having to haggle.

Avoid Performance in Everett like the plague, and Nissan of the Eastside, while their sales department is nice, totally sucks as far as service goes.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

A lot of Seattle folks!

Well if you're going to Burien Nissan and there happens to be more than one David, the last name is Dgersey (which is spoken like Jersey). Very very good guy. Actually just talked to him last Friday. Versas are selling extremely well there.

thx for the comments!

[re-jack]C-N is where I took my test drive. It good to hear some positive feedback for them. They are the most convenient dealer to me with the demise of North Seattle Nissan. I'm not a Costco member but then I'm only $35 from becoming one. I've been meaning to join anyway.

I had already decide Performance was out when I saw their inventory listed several +$20k Versas. [/re-jack]

Performance just does that to try to get you to call their internet department. Which is dumb, because it obviously has the opposite effect. They also try every evil, shady trick in the book short of bait and switch when you're actually dealing with them. Plus their service department techs are extremely unprofessional. If that weren't enough reasons.

But convenient, is it not, that there is a Costco right across the street from C-N? hehehe

One of my friends is currently dealing with C-N to get himself an '07 Altima. My friend is REALLY picky, though, so he may take a while in buying. He's talked himself into a 2.5SL with Connection package, and will only take it in precision gray.
