You could always stop by your machine shop and ask before buying it.

Even if it does need to be turned, just get appropriate bearings.

or like noted above, take it to your machine shop and have them check it out. Bearings are another story :$

Wish I could but, like most internet deals, it's not local.

This picture has made the decision pretty easy. It was going to be sold to me as a R34 RB26 crank. I don't know if they had the longer oil pump drive or not but, I know that this crank does not.

You can always have your machine shop take material off the crank and then compensate with thicker bearings.

From the pic, it doesn't look any worse than cdorhout's crank and all his needed was a micropolish to remove the scratches. I'd put an offer on it, but not a big one. It obviously needs about $50 of machine work and another $50 if you want to put a collar on it, plus the $100 for the collar.

Yeah you can see the crank in the picture has the short oil drive even from a distance.

The last time a collared a crank it was $140 shipped for the collar and the only guys I could get to do it local charged $275 to put it on. I'd rather hold out for a R33 crank that's in good shape. I've learned the hard way that the best time to start gathering parts for the next project is when your engine is running it's best. I've also got this one lined up for about $525 shipped from the UK.

DAAAMN! For $275 you could afford to drive it up to my machine shop and have the collar put on for $100+ tax. Plus the guy has experience in doing it with both mine and cdorhout's collars. I got my collar from nengun.com for $106 but I see they have raised the price to $149US probably because the dollar sucks balls.

Just go talk to the machinist face to face and show him the collar instructions. Tell him he needs to put it on the lathe to take the existing oil drive off and then slide the JUN collar on and drill and tap set screws onto it. It can't take someone who knows WTF they are doing more than an hour.

thats exactly what I told my guy. I acted knowledgeable of what I was talking about, asked him how much he thinks "not very much"... I just need to be more of a d!ck I think. Took him 3 ****ing weeks too. My whole engine got build by another shop in less than that.

I think I just picked the wrong machine shop. They put a couple of 1000hp ej20 motors together and think it gives them the right to ream everybody else. I just talk to a different shop yesterday that's going to hot tank and polish my crank for $55.
