I've yet to buy my versa, and haven't decided between the S or SL. One big drawing point of the SL is the stereo with the input for mp3 players. But is it worth paying the SL price just for that? I am considering going for an S model then having the stereo replaced with another that has an ipod, etc. input, but according to the websites of some big electronic retailers, the car stereos they sell wouldn't fit the versa. Is that true, or can a good stereo installer make an outside car stereo work in a versa?

CrutchField doesn't have a problem with replacements. According to them, the Versa has a normal Double Din radio that can be swapped out for another double din. You could also put a 1-Din in there but you have to buy their pocket kit that fits below it to fill the void. You'll have to splice the wires since there's no wiring harness out yet. Check out their website and use their fitment guide to easily find out what fits. Then buy it where ever you find it cheap.

The Nissan versa stereo can be replaced, and to not void your warranty they do have an antenna adapter, wiring harness and dash kit for 50 bucks and shipping at 10 on ebay, just click the motors link and search the 2007 to 2008 versa and its in there, i have put in a pioneer headunit, 4 three way 120 watt Eclipse speaker, a 5 channel Kenwood amp, with an Advent dual coil 12 inch sub, and also an Optimus 7 band EQ. All this with no splicing of wires

Why dig up a 1 year old thread that the question had already been answered!??

No...not just for that. But if you factor in the upgraded interior (seat fabrics, leather wrapped steering wheel, padded areas, front and rear armrests), and alloy wheels...as well as the stereo you mentioned and a few other goodies, then yes, I feel the SL is well worth the additional cost. But you have to decide for yourself if any of that other stuff is worth it to you. It was to us, and we're glad we got the SL.
