I just put in 4 50 watt RMS speakers in my 240sx. The head unit currently in the car is a POS Sony CD player that doesn't play CDs.

I live in a bad neighborhood, so I'm thinking of going back to a stock cassette deck (no chance of theft) and using a cassette adapter for my mp3 player. Can the stock unit sufficiently power 4 6.5"s?

Can it power them? Yes. Can it do it cleanly and give a sufficiant amount of distortion free power to be able to really make them sing? No.On the bright side, you will probably not get an OEM head unit stolen.

I'm hoping it can be "good enough". I drive a vert and don't want my top cut just so someone can steal a deck. :/
