Can the KA transmission take RB25 beating?

Ok, so I have an rb20 transmission and:

a. it might be shot already, but won't know till I start it next week.

b. if its not shot, the 350whp+ I'm going to be running will put it out

So I'm planning on taking the rb20 front case and swapping it to a ka transmission, but I'm wondering how much of a beating the KA transmission could take from the RB25...

Its alot cheaper than buying a rb25 transmission for $1200, then the mckinney mounts and DS for $1200 and then redoing everything in the bay because of repositioning.

Maybe I could get the ka/rb20 hybrid cryo treated (I think $250-300 for whole transmission)? Or maybe I could get the sr20 transmission w/ osgiken gearset and input shaft and rb20 front case? (getting to $2000+ then).

My Rb25 is setup to make 500whp, but I'll never be able to hold that on this weak rb20 trans.

Please give me your input.

Thanks,Daniel

A frend fo mine had a sr that made 504whl with a ka trany... he seamed to only get around 20 or so runs at the track befor it would let go... he got real good at swaping it though... he finly gave up and built a adapter plate to put a t56 6 speed in.....I talked to someone a few days ago who said even the rb25 transmission can't take much over 500whl and last very long... he said 3rd gear is week...I have not had a problem yet and I torture it daily...

I wonder, if I cryo treat a rebuilt ka trans if that'll be the ticket...

The t56 idea sounds good but man that would be expensive and difficult.

is the t56 trany the viper trany? If so are you talking about sean and his sr powered rx7?
