I'm going to remove the engine from my 93 convertible this weekend. I've messed around with some old mustangs (67 & 68) in the past but never a "newer" import like my nissan.

I've spent some time searching this forum for info on engine removal and there are some good write ups... but they all have the engine & transmission coming out together. Is that the only way?

I just need to know if I can separate the engine from the transmission and pull just the engine, or do they need to come out together.

Thanks.

you dont have to seperate them, its just easier, that way its not too hard to line up the clutch/torque converter. its the same as a mustang or any other RWD car. take out the bellhousing bolts, seperate the two, pull

trust us it is way easier to just pull the trany with the engine you only have to disconnect like 4 connector and the drive shaft. but to answer your question is you can remove the engine without removing the trany. but GOOD LUCK IN LINING UP THE TRANS WITH IT IN THE CAR. IT WILL BE VERY FRUSTRATING BUT CAN BE DONE. TRUST!!LIKE A DUMB AS I'VE DONE IT. LOL
