Can't you check your VIN on a Nissan webpage for outstanding recalls?

I thought for sure when I called Nissan with a 1-800 number they told me that you could check your vehicle's VIN number on their webpage to see if a recall was completed or not on your vehicle.

Is anyone here that can verify this?

Thanks,

Yeah I noticed that....

But if you call the dealer, they can run it through their computer. Just talk to a service writer and give him your vin.

there is some little red text to the right of the select box, click on that and it will bring you to a recall search thingy...

now, how come http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/c...h.cfm only shows the seatbelt buckle mechanism as the only recall?

Yet the link someone else gave me showed Timing Belt as well as the Seatbelt one, from http://www.alldata.com/TSB/41/89411319.html.

Well, considering 240sx's don't have timing belts, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that it's wrong ;)

Alldata shows all the recalls.....

NHTSA will only show the safety recalls.

The timing chain guide was not considered a safety recall, but rather a part recall. So now, when you get a timing chain kit, it will include the updated timing chain guide. Only safety recalls get taken care of at the dealers expense (my brothers 95 mustang had 3!!).

If you need it, yes. The dealer would charge you to change your timing chain and guides, although it would come with the updated guides.
