Can't stream music app via iphone and charge via USB (IOS)

I have a 2015 Rogue SL with Navi and an Iphone 5 (IOS 7.1.2).

- I can stream music via bluetooth from the iphone to the car using a music app (ex: songza) with no problems.
- But If i want to charge the phone at the same time via USB port, the car won't let me stream via bluetooth anymore. It says USB connection is enabled but I can't hear any music from the car.

I've tried installing nissan connect to see if that helps but still same issue.

How do i get the music to stream from my app and charge via USB at the same time with my iphone?? I must be missing a step somewhere??

I believe this will only work if you are using an app that is supported by NissanConnect (Pandora or IHeartRadio). Speaking for myself, that is why there is a 12v power port right next to the USB port

That's odd. When I plug in my iphone to the USB plug, the the screen changes to "ipod" and I can play music. Can be done even when I do not have bluetooth enabled too.

Yes, I can too if the music is in the phone memory. Can you also stream music from an app other than NissanConnect?

I'll assume you have the latest app version installed NissanConnect

Did you notice the fine print?
Compatibility: Requires iOS 6.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

They (Nissan) made sure everything works with the iPhone5, but they probably were using iOS 6.0 for testing and either A.) haven't bothered to ensure everything still works correctly with iOS 7; or B.) they're aware of the issues, but haven't worked the kinks out in order to release an update to the app.

I can have both bluetooth on and plug it in through the USB port and music will play through whichever input I select.

Can you try updated to the latest version of iOS 8 and see if that makes a difference? I'm running iOS 8.2 on my iPhone 6.

I'll see if i can update to IOS 8 this weekend to see if that makes a difference... but yes I am using the latest nissan connect as well on iphone. But so far I think @Ferrisfan's suggestion of using the cig adapter for power may be my option for now. And as noted this is for "streaming" app music, not downloaded music on your phone.

@darkelipse04 - curious do you have the navi system too?
