Can't open driver side door. MEHHH

My driver side door is locked shut. The key turns and the little lock switch inside the car jiggles a tad when I try to unlock it. Only problem is, nothing happens. The door is still locked. I tried from the inside and I tried holding the lock switch open while pulling on the handle and nothing. When I try the auto unlock the passenger side unlocks and the drivers side tries to and the lock switch jiggles but closes right after the motor is done whirring.

I though no biggie I can just take the door panel off and fix it. That requires me to open the door as far as I know... Any ideas or do I just chainsaw my door off?

There really isn't a good answer for you. Best bet is for you to first take your passenger side door off so that you can see how the locking stuff works. Once you can see that you'll either need to slide the seat forward or remove it entirely. Get off any screws that you can reach on the door panel, pull it back, jam your hand up in there and see if you can move the lock mechanism directly.

You have to open the door to take off the panel. Im pretty sure there might be screws on the bottom for the panel, but not 100%. SO it wont open at all no matter what? Sounds like the motor may be brokd'd and staying shut. You have to take the panel off

Thats what I figured...
The weird part is that it did this when the door was open. I tried to shut the door and it just bounced back open soo rather then fixing it while it was open and i had the chance, I shut while holding the lock. Bad choice.

Not sure how the locks work inside the door without seeing them but could a coat hanger get me any good results?

just go through the window. Wedge the window open and go to town. Most likely the rod that connects the lock to the locking mechanism came loose.

the rod on my locking mechanism completely fell out and i could not open the door. good luck, on figuring it out because i even called a few automobile lock smiths and they all said they had to cut the interior door panel to fix it...

I didn't have to cut my door panel off because we found out if you pull REALLY hard that bish will come off. So a buddy and I ripped the door panel off and he messed around with the locking mechanism but basically I need a new one. Does this mean I need a new key? Anyways this is the first time my door has been open since November....

taking off your door panel and unhooking your power locks might be your best bet lol
