4 Students Arrested After Food Fight

14-Year-Old Boys Released To Their Parents

VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Four middle school students in Valparaiso were arrested on battery and disorderly conduct charges after they were accused of starting a food fight on the last day of school, police said.

The food fight happened Wednesday at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. The 14-year-old boys were released to their parents.

Police Sgt. Steve Jackson said he was asked by an assistant principal to be in the cafeteria during lunch because of reports a food fight might occur. Jackson said the food fight created a panic in the cafeteria.

You don't get battery charges from a food fight. By definition you have to punch, slap or kick someone. Disorderly probably happened when they were asked to stop by the officer.
