I'm using VPP to buy a 2010 G37 Sedan with Journey/Premium at Austin Infiniti. I had my heart set on Graphite Shadow with Stone Leather interiors and the Wood Trim (which I think looks really classy). But the dealer says that he is unable to find a single car with those characteristics in Texas or surrounding states.

So he's offering me either a Graphite Shadow with aluminum trim and 400+ miles on it (do I *have* to accept a car like that? Should I ask for some discount bc of the mileage?), or Liquid Platinum with the wood trim.

I've had a silver G35 for seven years now, so I'm not hot on having the same color again, so I'm leaning toward settling for that car he's offering me, but something smells fishy.

Any negotiation advice would be helpful...

Thanks,Fred.

I was close to your situation here in San Antonio... I wanted the Graphite Shadow Journey with Premium and Sport, no Nav. No one in our region had a car with sport and no nav, so Gunn San Antonio said they could order one for me under the VPP, but it would take around 90 days. I didn't want to wait, so I bought the car with (10 miles) sport plus nav.

If you can wait, try ordering, but if they keep giving you a hard time, try Gunn Infiniti in San Antonio. They are really helpful and will get what you wnt under VPP. Stephanie is the internet sales rep, and she helped me with my VPP, whe could help you, too.

let me know if you need a hand, I can help if you need. The VPP deal is too good to pass up if you want this car...

Welcome to NICO!!

In my honest opinion...don't just settle. This is a big purchase that you have to live with. Get the car that YOU want.

That last thing you want is to have regrets.

As mentioned in another thread. Can you not go to the Infiniti site and build what you want and wait it out??

@Father:

Well, I took your advice and contacted Gunn Infiniti and requested a quote based on my specifications. I hope it'll come through, and I'll let you know.

@Whizz:

I'm primarily concerned because the VPP promotion is only good until March 31st, so I'm not sure I can wait for them to come up with my car. Furthermore, I'm DESPERATE for it by now!

I'll try the build option on the Infiniti site, and see what comes up.

Because they don't have the car YOU want... they should honour the VPP price, especially if you put a deposit or down payment.

Don't let some slick talking rep try to steam roll you. Be firm but diplomatic. EVERYTHING can always be negotiated.

Good luck!

VPP is only good on deals finalized by March 31st. I would check other inventories and see if there is something you find that you would be happy with....

Stephanie was my salesperson when I bought my car. I actually went into the dealership though. I agree, Gunn Infiniti SA provided a great buying experience, not to mention a fantastic price. Highly recommended.

I took Stephanie on a test drive while it was sleeting, she was a little worried at first...

She was really great to us, too. I first contacted her through email, and then she called me and put up with all of my silly questions. Super nice gal!

I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum, especially Canaan and Joe and Father Flanagan.

I had an excellent experience with Gunn Infiniti in San Antonio and the VPP program. I was able to get exactly the car I wanted (2010 G37 Sedan Journey with premium package in Blue Slate, Wheat interiors and wood trim) in time to take advantage of the deal in March. My salesperson, Stephanie Lafond, was amazingly helpful and patient in working through everything and locating the car in Dallas and getting it to SAT in time to take delivery.

I ended up paying $33,098 for the car ($35,448 with taxes) and added a paint and interior protection package for 499; I know I probably got ripped on that package, but with a four year-old with dirty feet and such a light-colored interior, it's probably a worthwhile investment.

This forum is awesome... I'm gradually working my way through the manual getting things set up the way I like them, but I LOVE my car.
