I went to my local dealership, Sacramento Infiniti, to buy some parts for my 94Q and spoke to a Service Writer about getting a printout of my service history. I was told that the history cannot be brought up unless I make a service appointment. Later I called Infiniti Customer Service looking for the history and was told the dealership would be happy to give it to me.

On my next trip to get parts I spoke with the Service Manager and was told that all records have been purged for vehicles prior to 1995. He was able to tell me that my Q had lived in and was serviced at the Las Vegas dealership and he suggested I may be able to get hard copies of the two visits for service that were made there.

Does the info (purging of the history) I've gotten from Infiniti sound correct? Is there anyone in NICO (Joe, Wes, Q45Tech) that could help me get my records if I provided you a VIN? I have every intention of using the dealership for some work but the service history would be a big help in determining what to expect. Thanks in advance for your help.

i called Joe on this a few weeks ago to verify something... After the car is 10 years old, the service records are archived from the national infiniti database, and they can only be retrieved at the dealership where the service was performed.

Thanks Wes. You've confirmed what the dealer told me. It sounds like I will have to call (or visit) Vegas to get the info.

Your dealer's service writer is a butt.

What you have to do is register your car with Infiniti Customer Service with you as the owner (they like to do this for recalls), then request the service history. Yes it is archived, but it can be brought up in a few days.

I suggest an oil change with you own oil, washer and filter. Joe has killer deals on M1 filters.
