Hi everybody, My car is a R34 rb25, and it has trouble going over 5000 rpm. It’s a stock car with a cat back exhaust. The fuel pressure is at 32-34psi @ idle and 42ish @ 5000rpm, (stock fuel pump and fuel pressure reg) and the flow also seems correct. it feels like it cutting out no power.I think it might be;

- The variable timing or- The ecu

What do u think?

Is it sputtering at 5000rpms or just shutting off?

Is the fuel pressure you posted measured at idle with fpr vacuume line hooked up? If its sputtering, you probably still need more fuel. I had to turn mine up to 50psi (at idle, after car is warmed up and with vacuume line to fpr hooked up) to get it to run right.

What fuel pump do you have?

What fuel pressure regulator do you have?

Its not likely the vvt, but could be the ecu. I would check your whole fuel system first.

Whoa! 50psi!! Thats a lot for a stock car. Id check your base timing for sure. When i first got my car running a couple years ago, I had issues with it falling on its face at about 5k rpms (VTC threshold). Got the timing set right and everything was good. Check your timing.

Dirty MAF? Is it throwing any codes? Have you checked your plugs to see if it's leaning or dumping too much fuel?

Yea, I figured, 50psi was high when its supposed to be 35 at idle. No one was giving me any valuable information to help troubleshoot the problem. l'll try adjusting the timing this weekend. Thanks yarrr
