can't get dash piece back on..

ok, the piece the has all of the driver's controls (Cruise, Hazards, Hicas Light etc.) I pulled off, and now I cant get it back on. The Tilt switch seems to be in my way. other than that it should go on. So do I have to remove this switch? and if so, how do I? Or is there another way to do it I'm starting to get angry with it, but dont want to end up breaking it. please help a.s.a.p. thanks

ok, this just clicked to me. When I was putting my interior back together, my mom's bf dropped the steering column. how do you do this? If I could do it, I could put this piece in no problem. Does anyone know how to do this?

ok, well, I undid 2 bolts on the sides of the steering column, it dropped right down, I put everything back together and noticed, there is a fairly large gap between the steering column and the rear window controls. it lines up with the piece under the dask fine, but doesn't look right, maybe I didn't notice this before. Can someone post a pic of this part on thier car? I want to see if maybe I screwed something up, or if it's just like this and I haven't noticed before.

there should be a rubber flap that makes the seam look a bit less than it actually is.
