Ok first off. Hi. Yep I'm new here but not new to the auto scene. Anyway....

I'm getting ready to do a 5speed swap into a 95 240 and I have read every swap file I can find but for some reason with hours of searching and reading I can't seem to find a reason why no one uses the factory harness. when I do my swaps I like them to be as clean and factory as possible. I will be using a manual transmission ecm and would like to use everything that would have came from the factory.

that being said can I use the factory 5 speed harness and ecm and literally wire this up like it came from the factory this way? I don't care if it takes more time or money or whatever. just would rather have everything look stock. thanks in advance for your input.

To truly do it correctly, you would need the entire chassis harness from the seats forward if I remember correctly. This includes all the relay boxes and transmission sub harness. It's a mega job that will take mega patience and cash. Or you can get a clean conversion harness from wiring specialties or make your own and bypass the necessary relays and switches to make things work. You can make a very clean install of it, but it will not be exactly to OEM spec. It's honestly too much hassle to go through for some old crappy Nissan wiring in the first place. Better to make your own which will be more reliable anyways. Just some thoughts from someone who has done auto to manual swaps on 240s before :D

I agree here....Having done the 5 speed swap on my 96. I used my Auto harness and bought the manual extended harness from Wiring Specialties. Worked out fantastic. No CELs. Hardest part for me was locating an ECU from a manual 96 240sx down to the same month mine was built lol damn OBDII

thank you very much for the info guys. that is exactly what I needed to know. well I guess I have no choice but to do it like everyone suggest. lll definitely grab one of the wiring specialties harnesses. they look like they make a solid product. yeah the ecm will be interesting to find being this is an obd1 s14. I'm sure I'll find one eventually

actually after looking into it a bit. I guess the auto ecm will be fine if not better for me to use anyway being I have an obd1 car. no cel and it will remove the speed limit and raise the Rev limit and give a more aggressive fuel curve. might as well try it. if I don't like it I'll change it lol
