I had a problem a few days ago where my engine (redtop SR20DET) would overheat, and lose almost all of it's coolant. After going over the whole cooling system (with generous help from NICO, as usual ), I found my thermostat housing to be cracked almost in half.. I have called Nissan and they said that they could get the part for me, but it would cost me $150 and over a month of waiting. I've been trying to find this part everywhere (I live near Toronto, Ontario), but to no avail. I was wondering if the housing off of an SR20DE is compatible with the DET, or if there is anywhere that I could get the part that wouldn't cost me an arm, a leg, and no use of my car (which I need for work and school). Thanks guys (and gals)! In the meantime, my search continues...

I would order it and j-b weld the one you have for now and remove your t-stat to reduce pressure it should hold long enough to get the part in if you really need to drive your car. I would make sure you keep an eye on the temp though.

Thanks 240life, I was considering JB Weld for a bit but wasn't sure.

Why not just have someone TIG it back together? Cheaper than a new one and a hell of a lot stronger than JB weld.
