hello boyz and girlz... this is my first post and before i ask for help i'd like to say hello and thanks for letting me be a part of this!

presently i own a saturn (i know, i know...) but am looking for a 240sx.

one of my problems is that i cannot find any pre-'89 240sx pics! i have tried every search engine i can think of, even tried scouring eBay but all to no avail! :(

although the newer models are sweet, i remember the first time i saw a 240, i fell in love. as i recall this was in the mid 80's, but may well have been before that. i remember thinking "man i would really love to have one of these babies!"

so then, if you can help me out with this either by turning me on to links or maybe sending me pics of yours or a friend's or whatever, i'd REALLY appreciate it. i need to show my wife so she can keep an eye out also, and to decide on exactly what model year range i want to settle on.

i will FINALLY be in the position to buy myself a toy and be able to invest in the "new" toy to muscle it up a bit and do whatever it takes to bring it to "new" condition.

so thanks for the read-through and for any help you might be able to give me with this dilemma.

take care, be safe and i'll see you on the 'board.

'89 was the first production year for the S13 chassis. (240SX)Unless you mean a 240Z? Those are like from the early 70's...Also, there were Datsun/Nissan 200SX's in the mid to early 80's...But '89 is as early as any 240SX will ever go. :)

thank you for the quick (almost immediate...) responce my friend.

you know, i just hate it when i show my ignorance.... :(

( especially in public! )

so i guess it must've been a z then.... so it would seem that i am in fact looking for a 240z. sorry 'bout that, but i DO appreciate the correction, at least now i can maybe find some pics and hopefully that elusive car i've been wanting for soooo long!

thanks again my friend!

The drawings are kind of crappy, but this might help.

Anyway, feel free to stick around. Lots of folks around here appreciate the old Z cars, myself included.

I'm a sucker for those glass headlight covers and louvres...freakin' window louvers.

Here's some cool photos of old Z's.

I only wish I lived somewhere where these cars weren't mostly held together by rust. :(

Round headlights? that'd be a Z car, they rock, there was a sweet 260Z for like 5500 around here not long ago, think it's been snapped up already though...

I want a 280ZX still cuz it's slightly bigger, but still looks cool. Though I'd like to have a 280Z too, with FI and a five speed:D

I've personally always wanted a 240Z aswell...but I didn't quite know the specs on 'em. Do we know for sure that site's specs are accurate? Because they're getting the same power out 2.4 liters back in 72 with the carb'd L24 that they do with the KA24. But when they add displacement, they lose power. Odd...

Mostly emissions stuff and fuel economy, I believe. The 260Z was kind of a stop-gap (only one model year) and lost a lot of power because of changes dictated by legislation. As the Z cars went on, they also got heavier and heavier.

I think the increasing weight is a result of tighter safety standards AND Datsun's misguided attempt to add "luxury" to the Z. BTW, the 260Z and up had the big ugly bumper...swap on a 240Z bumper if you get an older Z. :D

thanks for the links guyz, and the input.

now we'll pick a year, find a car and start the slow process of "pumping it up!"

If you're "pumping it up" pretty extensively, pay very close attention to the 30+ year old frame. They are relatively flimsy and often plagued with rust. Reinforcements are a must for higher hp output. ;)

Good luck, and be sure to post pics. :)
