My car was running great in the last couple weeks but just recently I've been having problems. I'm not sure if might have been due to overheating or what not. Theres been times that the needle has hit all the way up, the s13 radiator and aftermarket electrics fans are cutting it, and I did changed the thermostat. I'll be getting an s14 radiator and Porsche 944 fans.

Neway thats not my problem, but maybe overheating damaged a sensor or something. Just in the past week the car in 2nd gear started misfiring at 3500rpm, in 1st gear you get a little hint of it but more in 2nd gear and up, after hitting 3500 and shifting I see a puff of dark black spoke, I can go up more in RPM but the car was struggling so bad I just shifted at 3500. It idles fine and everything and hasn't left me on the side of the road. I tested the car out this morning and it was running fine but when it gets up to normal temperature it started again.

Little things have come up making me think it was those problems like a busted fuel line and after putting gas in the car it started.

I'm gonna go through process of elimination, fuel filter, spark plugs. I've already checked my intercoolers pipes and obvious stuff but any other input would be nice. ASAP

Sounds to me like your coolant temp sensor is shot.

That would make the needle rise even if the engine wasn't overheating. Would cause timing to retard, and the fuel mixture enrichened. The combo combined with a properly running engine would cause misfiring, and a laggy engine.

there are two temp sensors. One for the gauge and one for the ECU, chances of them both being broke are minimal.

I'd go with the boost leak checking first.

Ok, shes running even better than before.

Went to the local junkyard, didn't get my 944 fans but got a pair from a 1g Eclipse and just a little trimming here and there and mounted them, they work very nice. Car actually stays a notch below normal. I took it for a pretty long test drive too. Not sure if it also helped but I removed the FMIC (piping was never done so I just have it off until i take it to a shop).

Installed a 90 300zx Turbo fuel filter,Denso spark plugs. Autozone or Discount don't carry the NGK!!! While changing the plugs I noticed that a little ground wire on the coil pack harness had been off, screwed it right back in.

Car pulls alot better and feels good.

Also while I was at the junkyard I found an 87 Pulsar NX, but it was a 1.6 ,not the 1.8. I took the ignitor chip and a couple other stuff, will anything from it work on the CA18DET? Just inCAse anyone needs something on here.

No damn boost leaks ok!!!!!!!!

Grab the dropping resistor if you can find it! It should be a direct fit on CA18DET, this is a great time to verify this. it should be a 6 connector 2x3 layout, with 5 of the connectors actually having wires.. and look like all the pictures of the CA18DET ones more or less..

Also without fans to help it along, having a FMIC is going to restrict airflow on the radiator, so that might have had some effect from having it overheat and try to run it rich, but alone wouldn't be the problem since it wasn't hot enough to blow up... the ground probably helped it misfiring as well, since with bad ground the spark has nowhere to go.
