I need to buy new tires. Did the research and came down to these three.

Falken Ziex ZE-912 - 360
Hankook V4 ES H105 - 420
Yokohama S.drive - 300

Size is 245/40 17. I think price is good and threadwears are 360, 420 and 300. Anyone has personal experience with these tires? I'm ready to order, but can't decide. What I'm looking at is quiet, performs well and last longer. I know you can't have it all, but trying to find good bang for the buck. Prices are almost same though. Other recommendations are welcome as well.

None of those tires perform well at all, so you're down to quiet and durability. For that, you'd get the higher treadwear Hankooks.

I wish I could comment. I've used Yokohama ES100's and Falken FK452's, but not the one's you've listed. I think the ones I had were rated a little higher. I hate my Falkens compared to my old Yokohamas...

My next set of tires will probably be a set up cheapie Nexen NX3000's.

A local guy was selling a brand new Kumho Ecsta ASX, so I picked it up today for $40. It was only one though. I searched and this plcae(http://discounttires.com) has the cheapest price online $114.50 shipped, so I'll get another new one from there and mount on the rear. I'll buy two more for front soon. Well, craigslist made me to get ASX I guess. Exclaim UHP was another great bang for the buck tire as well. Thanks for the input anyway.

S. Drive is supposed to be an upgraded version of ES100. ES100 didn't have good reviews as far as I know. FK452s have pretty good reviews, so I thought FKs were better tires. Anyway, Ecsta ASX is supposed to be one level up than S. Drive, ES100, 912, 512, V4...etc, so we will see.

I'd go with the Kumho ASX's. In fact I have already, twice. All season, 420 treadwear, and grip like a UHP summer, can't beat them for the price IMO

Monstrously false. Their grip is nothing like an RE11/R1R/RS3.

Maybe I was just overly impressed because they gripped a lot harder than I'd expected from a 420 treadwear all season tire. But whatever, I'll submit to the authority of the all knowing king of the road racing forums...

I still maintain the ASX is a great buy for what the OP is looking for.

The ASX is not a bad buy, I was not disputing that at all. Grip wise though, they fall very short of the tires I listed. Any 420 treadwear tire cannot be compared to a 140-180.

ECSTA ASXs(245/40 17) installed in the back. I put one in the front and it was hitting fender liner when I turned, so looks like 235/40 17 is the widest you can go if you want to keep the fender liner. Overall, I'm very satisfiled with ASXs. I spent total $174 for two new tires w/mount and balance. BTW, wheels are 17x8 +23 all the way around. Rear fenders are just rolled, not pulled.

Piece of s*** tires. They made me spin out in light rain at 75% tread remaining. To OP and all others: never purchase Falken FK452 tires! :tisk:
Keep in mind that.
Man, my wife's car came with brand new FK452s. :(
