So basically we're dealing with a lack of power....

Did you actually check the ECU codes or are you not getting a CEL. You could have bad knock sensors. Thatwould explain lack of power.

Heres' the procedure to pull OBD1 codes:

zerothread/217489

Your transmission shifts fine, correct?

Pardon my ignorance but if in gear and the engine revs,but the cars doesnt accelerate how can it Not the the transmission slippng ???

Try doing a Compression test on the car and check all 6 cyl.
