I don't know if they are pure aluminum but most likely they are. I took an old set of alloy rims to the recycler once; they weigh them and pay per pound.

I have a guy come right to the shop. He pays about $10 a rim.

Yeah, it is downright impossible without the specific tools that the tire places use. The tire lip has a bead in it (where it sits on the rim) that makes it tough to stretch the tire enough to bring it over the rim. Plus, you have to break the "seal" of the bead against the rim too with a lot of physical pressure (after you remove all the car, of course).

Your best best is to find a friendly tire place, unfortunately, that does not want to charge you an arm and a leg to do the tire removal ...

Haven't tried ebay? Robert gave me his old pie pans and I'm running them right now as one of my 18s are bent. I have to admit its nice having the cush ride back and I'm getting much better MPG - since swapping I've netted approx 2 to 2.5 MPG on my daily commute.

Will some moderator please correct the spelling of the word "recycler" so this thread becomes usefully searchable?

Thank you.

Sure makes searches on Subjects useless.

Same for text in message bodies.

But who cares? We're proud to be ignorant Americans soon to be owned by the Chinese!

Just call me Bubba.

If i would have been doing my job I would have noticed it and fixed it before everyone else did or at least had a chance to mention something about it....

So, you can ban me..... oh wait!!

not to pick a fight, but your spelling has been a little silly in message bodies in the past.....And who says Im proud?? If ignorance is misspelling a word, then I think we are all doomed.

We are doomed! But that is not the point. Having the title correct does help the search function do a better job finding stuff - Brian is right about that - and it took me 10 to 15 seconds to fix it. No big deal! <shrug>

I do the same for other titles (see this post: zerothread/167800), and sometimes content too, in the M35 and M45 forum and elsewhere (less often though!). Sometimes, I have gone in and removed capitalization (all letters upper-cased by the member) for the heck of it - to avoid them getting flamed.

I also fix a number of "Infinity" to "Infiniti" spellings rather than have the member take flak! Simpler and less hassle for everybody ... !

We are looking out for you all!!!
