can only accelerate slower then my grandma

its a 1992 hatch and when the gas pedal is eased down and i accelerate slower them my grandma the car works fine, but when i try to accelerate like a normal person or if i put it to the floor the engine jumps and sputters and boggs down. i have searched and cant find anything. my guess is the fuel pump. any other suggestions?

Check your timing, wires, plugs, coil. an acceleration issue usually has to do with the ignition. Run the car in the dark and see if you can see any arcing with the wires. Take out the spark plugs and see how corroded they are. Get a timing light and check timing. Get the coil tested. Good Luck!

how about changing your fuel filter if you go too long w/o changing it, it can do this but i could be wrong. take it out (very easy) clean it and try to blow through it. just my 2 cents. there about 5 bucks for a new one so no big loss

could very well be a tps calibration issue as well. Do the tune up first and see if that resolves the issue. If not, then calibrate the tps.
