Hello all,
I am having a strange issue. It is a 95 s14 with only intake and exhaust on it. Cat starts up and everything just fine, but when I go to accelerate, if I give it any more then about 20% throttle it just seems to stop there and bog / buck kind of. If I let it back out and slooolllyyy give it more gas, it will go faster, and I can give it more gas, but if I were to say step on it to try and get out in traffic, or pass someone, it just cant be done. I can get up to full speed, it just takes a while of slowly giving it more and more gas.

The strange part is when I once put seafoam through it via the throttle body method, while I was trying to run it hard to clear out the seafoam, it ran perfect and was able to accelerate just find, but then after all the foam was cleared out, it went back to its sluggish self (that was even after cap / rotor/plug replacement) .

I cant even out accelerate grandmas driving 4cyl church going cars.

Any Ideas?

**Edit, on deceleration it backfires / pops a s*** ton if that helps any as well.**

yeah sounds like mass air flow. What rpm can you get it up to?

That is the thing, I can it get up to max RPM , but it just takes a long time when I am under load because I can only give it a little gas at a time and slowly increase how much I am giving. I can rev it just fine out of gear. in 5th though, It seems to have trouble getting above 65-70, like it is struggling for power. in 2/3rd gear it kind of felt like my old eclipse when I accidentally turned down the manual boost controller from 19lbs to 4, like it felt like it was about to, and wanting to go, but just didnt.

Check your intake piping from MAF to throttle. I had a NA KA where the MAF popped off the plastic pipe but was still resting on it and looked ok, when it was actually letting unmetered air in. It felt similar to a boost leak on a turbo, with bucking over 1/4 throttle.

Check your ignition timing. It sounds out. Also, check the gap of the spark plugs. I cleared up a full throttle bog over the winter by regapping. Most of my plugs had worn down enough to significantly increase the gap.

I double checked the gap when I replaced the plugs. I will clean the MAF and check the tubing for anything. The thing that seemed the strangest is when injecting hte Seafoam directly in to the throttle body, it pulled like a champ, but then after that, back to s***.
