Torque converter- Yes, you have to remove the transmission, slide the old tc off, pop the new one on, reinstall transmission, fill with fluid. Choose the stall speed based on whatever mods you plan on doing later, or you could end up with a very unpleasant to drive automatic.
Cooler- Here is a picture of mine you can see when I was rebuilding the front end (wife wrecked it). The cooler I got out of a junkyard for $10, it was taken off a mid 1990's Ford Explorer. It fit perfect behind the center radiator support. I made a bracket out of Home Depot angle aluminum for bolting the bottom to the rad support, and the upper flange of the cooler was attached with a bolt that went thru a hole on top in front of the radiator (the hole was already there, it was used to for a clip that holds part of the wire harness that runs underneath the cross support.) The cooler lines I ran up and around the radiator by the battery (some trimming of plastic needed) and down to the cooling lines at the bottom of the radiator. The cooler line gets spliced into the return line for the stock cooler in the radiator, which is the line that runs between the transmission and the driver side radiator connection (at least it was on mine). (Use 5/16's transmission cooler line, DONT use fuel line). I can take better pictures if you need, but it will be about a week or so...supposed to be leaving for the Florida panhandle tomorrow morning (Friday the 13th, driving just west of the hurricane... yeah, I'm smart.....
