I'm thinking of installing a 1200watt amp in my car, but I'm not sure if the current alternator will be able to handle it. It's a newly rebuilt alternator, but unfortunately is still the stock KA24e one. Here's some specs on the amp:

I currently got a 250 watt amp in the car, but it doesnt even make the lights dim unless I have it cranked up all the way. Soo....will this work?

What size power wire are you running? Do you plan on wiring up at 1 ohm?

Hmm not sure about the size of the wire, I'd have to ask the previous owner. But I'd have no problem re-wiring if I'd need to. And yes, I do plan on running this at 1 ohm.

Your going to need AT LEAST 4 gauge wire to run that amp. The alternator really isn't designed to handle that load, so it's more of a when is it going to fail rather than if. Personally, I'd just run it till it fails, and then go someplace that has a lifetime warranty and get good at swapping them out.
