Okay, I'm getting sick of my coils. This is my only car and I'm done getting jarred around everyday on normal roads. I want something more practical and I'm seeing what my options are.

Basically, will a good set of springs/struts get this low without cutting springs? I don't really know how low they can get on an s13. Here's the current ride height. Rears are maxed.

Sorry for the lame a** pics. My car is dirty.

And I know I'll probably get flamed for this but I'm just sick of the bouncy ride. They're JIC coils so I know they're meant to be stiff, but they're on the softest setting and they suck for DD.

I'm thinking some KYB's possibly? Idk......

Can't really say, my car is about that height, but we have different sized wheels and tires. I'd say you'd get a similar height.

How's your front lower control arm look?At the height I'm at right now, they are nearly parallel to the road.

My flca is at about a 15 degree angle. The higher part going towards the wheels. So I would say a little lower than yours.

My wheels are 18s.

Yeah, you'll have some wheel gap then.Just throw a few sandbags in the car and you'll be good to go. :P

Does JIC offer lower spring rates?Call them and ask, you'll keep your ride height and get a comfier ride.

if i run my coils at softest its bouncy too. when i stiffen them a little it rides a lot better. you could get some coils meant for comfort. spring and strut combos don't ride much smoother if at all.

Razi and Kc, I'll look into those. I might try playing around with the settings a little more to see if that helps, but it doesn't seem to do much, still crazy stiff.

Oh, my bad bro. I like enjoying my ride from A to B every once and a while. I'm not really into being a wannabe drifter and riding around with a slammed car and stretched tires when not only is it not practical, it's not even beneficial on the track, which it seems like your car doesn't see anyways....

Maybe I'll just man up and rattle can my car to make the exterior as s***ty as my ride quality.

Trade ya for my KYB strut/K-sport spring combo.

The set up I have for DD isn't too bad though. I'd recomend.

From what i know the eibach sportlines go the lowest as far as lowering springs. I have coilovers on one of my 240's and sportlines on my other one. My sportline 240 rides WAY smoother and is more comfortable to drive. But not nearly as low. I prefer the looks of the one on the teins but the ride of the one on the sportline springs.

ahahah, damn, butthurt much?

1) never EVER said my car was a track car2) ive been LOW for longer than youve owned any nissan. fact. locals know this. i love low, and will always be low. 3) bash the rattle can all you want. its not a track car, not a show car, and im not terribly concerned with either.

jic's are some of the softest coils ive ridden on.

you took s*** way too serious dude. calm the hell down.

enjoy your cushy new ride. ill enjoy my "harsh" ride.

and for the record my car is driven 365 days a year, rain, snow, sun, whatever. no mercy on the car, no excuses.

that is all.

to answer your question... you MIGHT be as low with your 18's on there... but if you get anything smaller, youll have retarded wheel gap.

OP, do you have the spring preloaded? for DD'ing i find it much more comfy to run no preload. i believe mrgreeneyes runs no preload as well. the car does react a hair slower, but you can always add preload in a swift minute. and by running no preload you will "droop the spring" and lower your ride even more

Yeah, mines barely snug. Definitely not preloaded.

no preload. its the winner.

i run 10/8 springs but since the addition of the REST of the PSM catalog this past year, ill be swapping my 6k's on the back and moving 8k up front for a more compliant setup. nothing else flexes now... so the coils gotta.

change your tire pressure perhaps. makes a HUGE difference for me.

for instance, TONIGHT (for realistic time reference) i swapped my 215/45/17 stretch (on 9.5" wide wheels) that i ran daily at 45 psi to keep em beaded, for 235/40/17 at 30 psi.... rides like a goddamned cadillac in comparison but i couldnt run lower psi on the 215s, due to fear of the tire walking off the wheel.... 215's were just to see how retarded of a stretch i could do (and only done cus i have FREE access to mounting/balancing locally :D)

i wasnt s***ting on your thread, bro-tron. im a sarcastic a**, just try to roll with it. i was being funny. sorry if your bum got sore. i actually think youre one of the more intelligent of the people on here and figured youd know my verbal prowess by now....

and i leave you with this quote of the night by a local dude while we were mounting tires:

"your spraypainted self-proclaimed s***box has more legit parts/money than any other 240 ive ever seen... its awesome"

maybe it's the brand of coilovers? i have dmax coilovers and they ride pretty good.rigid of course, but it still feels pretty good.

i haven't used lowering springs, but something tells me you wouldn't be able to go quite as low..i guess you'd have to work around lowering springs to make it look good.but yea,for DD, i'd say go for it.if you don't like em or the ride height, you can always go back to the coilovers.

eh, what am i saying.you're car is naiiice.

Perhaps sell and go with a softer rate. I just picked up BC and they have a ton of height adjustability with preload. And you can get custom rates for the same price, they ran me 950

Yeah, the brand of coilover could make a large difference. Most coilovers have crappy dampening and have a horrible ride.

Reason why I shall buy some FortuneAuto coilovers when the time comes...

fortune auto does look promising. they use japanese dampers. i wonder who makes them? either way w/a valve spec sheet & 3 year warranty, it seems to be a damn good coilover for the money

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Stance LX+'s yet. I'm hearing phenomenal things about those. Very soft and comfy, near Lexus-like ride, while still able to go low.

Some ppl say they're a little bouncy, but maybe having them professionally set up might help eliminate that. But ppl have started to call them 'the perfect DD/street coilover'...

Christian why are you being lame? Keep your coilovers, or I can get you a deal on DMAX which are super comfortable.

I had eibach sportlines on my current 240 before. I was still able to stick 2 fingers almost 3 in between the tires and fender well. This was with the stock 15's ofcourse.
