Can kyb gr2 struts handle a drop??

Im looking into lowerring the qx4 2-3" and I dont think my old a** monroe shock is going to like it very much.

Would I be best to buy a KYB strut??

Or am I out of luck and Im going to blow anything I put on there either way?

Does anyone know if a shop would have any trouble aligning out r50 if we lowerred the car by say 3" at most? Would anything not be able to be adjusted?

I want to know how you are gonna lower it more than 2". But go with KYB GR-2 Struts and KYB Gas-A-Just Shocks. I had my drop for 1.5 years now and its fine.

if your currrent shocks are old, definitely replace them when you do the drop (since it'll be all taken apart anyways).

it doesn't matter if you choose between kyb or monroe - they both have the same dimensions. i think monroe is a dual tube and kyb is a single tube so ride quality might differ.

i think www.4x4parts.com might possibly sell a shock made for lowered R50's...

unless you buy shocks, struts that are designed for a lowered ride height, none of the shocks that are designed to replace the factory struts, shocks will operate within their designed parameters. the only way a stock type of strut can handle a lowered ride height would be to cut the vertical control arm welds on the strut body, and reweld them 1-2 inchs higher on the strut body, this would move the entire strut down and keep it in its optimal operating zone. finding some rear shocks should be easy. do a little thinking outside the box.

or do it the easy way and buy some coilovers
