Just wondering... on stock internals, can a KA24DE take 100hp increase with a turbo on the crank?

Im trying to figure out how much a stock KA can take daily driven so I can figure out how Im going to be putting things together...

Yes. With proper fuel management, plenty of people are doing that on stock internals. Assume the 240SX puts down about 130 to the wheels (that's probably a bit charitable)...230hp to the ground can be done on stock internals.

Yes if the motor has been taken care of. Just install it there is no way to tell. If it pops replace it, ka's are cheap.

There's a very good and easy way to tell. Do a compression test.

Yes first do a compression test. My car is daily driven for the most part. A little more than a month and my car is doing fine. 141K and still ticking. Also a wideband helps to keep an eye on air/fuels. Nick

Seriously, it shouldn't be a big deal, and btw, I have 190k on my car and she still runs perfect.

Ok.. so how many HP are people putting @ the wheels on stock internals assuming its tuned with SFAC and a wideband..

sorry for these newbie questions but i need to start somewhere lol

stock internals and 6psi i'm putting out 220hp at the wheels.

But you might want to look at the sticky at the top of the KA-T page to get an idea of what people are putting down.

Fuel tuning is only half the equation...you're forgetting about timing.

Stock timing will blow things up at ~6psi and up...unless you retard the base timing a little. You can get away with 9psi if you knock the base back to ~16 BTDC, but any more than that, you're asking for trouble.

So I'd say to keep it safe, run 8psi or less, and ad more fuel than needed.

Now, if you address the timing issue (like use a retuned ECU, JWT makes a few different programs), you can do much more.

300rwhp is not uncommon for stock KAs with a T3/T4, and 12-13psi or so, and a JWT 50lb injector/Cobra MAF setup.

Many have dyno'd ~350rwhp at 16-17psi, stock block.

JWT can do anything you ask them to. And the Z32 MAFS is probabaly the most common upgraded one so of course, yes.

Bone stock 115,500 mile KA DE with PK turbo kit, fuel system, IC, and AEM EMS made 404 RWHP and 409 TQ has run 12.78 @ 117 mph

But the Nissan ECU (JWT tuned included) still cant retard timing according to boost pressure. Its based on rpm and engine load, correct??

yes. the jwt ecu has no clue how much boost you are running.

How about a simple device like MSD 6BTM... It's probably not as good as a say reprogrammed ECU but... it's a safe/efficient way to prevent detonation for lower price...

It doesn't need to. The ECU will see a large amount of air flowing into the motor for the given load(TPS) and RPM. The stock ECU will even back off timing as the MAF signal increases for a given TPS and RPM. JWT's maps will be more inline for what is needed when running a turbo however.
