Apparently, Honda has actually figured out that customers of luxury cars DO NOT like FWD/V6 for their pricey cars. Who knew?

On so many levels: Honda = FAIL.

With 420 horses in a V-8, I would like to see how quick that car really is compared to a G-35. I bet a supercharged G-35 would make the lexus IS-F and this Acura feel very heavy. Already, a lightly moded G-35 coupe actually runs almost similar times as a G-37.

not hate, just disappointment. honda makes some of the most reliable cars in the world. they sometimes forget that the average amerian would like some excitement along with their reliability.

also

watch the greatest commercial ever made. Its by honda. I like it better than cog.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiBX8MkFkd4it makes me tear up. No joke.

You think they'd be able to sell enough with gas prices the way they are?

We're pushing a 400% increase over the past decade. There was a lady outside of Subway yesterday that was begging for gas money.

I foresee more turbo charge 4 bangers. Much more efficient and still capable of pushing out power.

IMHO Honda had their glory days, 1990-2000, with 1992 civic SI (0-100 km/h in 6.5 sec), 1998-2001 Integra Type R (I think THIS car leaded the way for others fast & affordable cars like Mazdaspeed 3), S2000. European Accord Type R was great also.

But now their gas saving, performance, inspiration seem vanished...

The RL is too big for me. An Infiniti G already stretches my size limit.

If Acura had built a rear- or all-wheel-drive TSX with enough engine to get the 0-60 time down to 6 seconds, I'd be driving it instead of my G37S.

yeah, the nsx was rwd, but does it really count? it was merely a rebadged honda. granted the rest of the linup was warmed over hondas, but those were more america specific than the NSX was.

The photos in the link are for a test mule. It does not necessarily mean it will look like that. In fact, using body parts from existing vehicles is a great way of disguising a concept car while they are engineering and testing the mechanicals. They're still some 3 years away from production, so I'd expect to see a much more complete visual closer to the launch date.

I'm happy to hear they might be considering a RWD platform. I'm surprised they waited so long to adapt to the market. It will be nice to have a Honda engineered RWD luxury car available. Despite the bad impression Honda tends to get, they make some of the best engines and drivetrains in the world. Their interiors have been of pretty good quality as well.

yeah they have "good" engines, and "quality" interiors, but the interiors pale in comparison to toyota interiors in terms of quality. I had an acura Tl. it was all hard plastic. the steering wheel leather was black and every time id drive it with moist hands (rain), the dye from the leather would transfer. cheezy wood. vinyl on all surfaces that look like leather except the seat cushion. plus, the transmissions on all 1997-2001 honda accords and acura tls were crap. they fail constantly, and honda refused to redesign the transmission. ill never buy one again. not to mention, i have yet to visit a good acura dealer. the last one i went to, they dropped the garage door on my car WITH ME STILL IN IT! then they forgot to fix the damage when i came to pick up the car. I was livid. Acura can DIAF for all i care. they have been more or less irrelevant for years. sad.

The NSX was a mid-engine, two-seat coupe intended to compete with super cars like Ferrari. A removable, targa-style roof panel was an option. I don't understand calling it a rebadged Honda. That would be like calling a G37 a rebadged Nissan.

The NSX was pretty fast, handled well, was very comfortable, got surprisingly good gas mileage and had Honda reliability. However, it was quite expensive ($90k) and never enjoyed the snob appeal of its European competitors. My personal opinion is that it was a good choice for someone who wanted, but could not afford, a mid-engine Ferrari.

I respect the opinion you formed out of your personal experiences, but you should be aware that the mechanical issues you speak of appear to be limited to specific cars. Last I checked Honda/Acura had quite a few cars and have a pretty good reputation for building reliable vehicles.

As for your service experience, I haven't heard any overwhelming amounts of complaints about poor service from dealers across the country. At least, no more than with just about every other brand.

you are probably right. i had pretty crappy experience with that car. i just got turned off by the little things, like why couldnt honda spend the extra few cents to make nicer knobs and such. when you pay 40k for a new Tl, you expect a solid car, but the few ive driven all feel hollow. competiton is good, but every car they have put out in the last year, has had me shaking my head.

I would totally agree that their recent cars seem a bit uninspired. Even the S2000 feels outdated now.

Many said the same about the interior of the 03-04 G35. Hopefully we'll see improvements. Competition is always good for the market...
